Live the land of
Puccini Tour |
1. day
Arrival at the hotel and check-in.
Welcome drink followed by the dinner. 2. day
After breakfast guided tour of Giacomo Puccini’s birth city.
One of our expert guide will lead you to discover the beautiful medieval
town of Lucca. Here are the planned stops included in the program:
the Duomo, San Giovanni, the church where the Maestro has been baptised,
the medieval walls, San Michele and San Frediano’s churches
and finally the roman amphitheatre today a very charming square. |
 |
 |
The program will naturally end with the
visit of Giacomo Puccini’s birth house where you’ll have
the opportunity to relive his childhood.
Particularly interesting are the original scores of Turandot placed
in this museum.
Lunch and afternoon at leisure. |
Transfer to Viareggio in the afternoon,
well-known town on the Riviera Versilia and last residence of the
Maestro. Opportunity to take a coffee at the “Caffè Margherita”,
the place where Puccini used to go. Its art deco facade was designed
by Puccini’s good friend, Galileo Chini.
After a short break you will reach Torre del Lago to visit the Villa
Puccini. The great composer lived and worked in his much loved home
on the edge of the lake for almost 30 years, and therein lie his remains
and those of his immediate family. Guided visit. |
 |
 |
In the late afternoon, transfer to the
Massaciuccoli’s lake. In a very idyllic atmosphere, the same
that inspired the Maestro, you will go by boat on this beautiful lake.
The lake held a strong attraction for Puccini, the hunter. He believed
it was the most beautiful place in the world and described it as “supreme
bliss, a paradise”.
The lake and the marshes constitute a botanic oasis of great importance.
In the evening transfer to Lucca to see the concert. There, the artists
playing the show that night will introduce you to the Opera. You will
meet the director, the singers, the music players, stage-designers
etc. |
The evening will obviously be completed
by the concert in the fantastic setting of the San Giovanni’
basilique.
3. day
The hilly landscape that surrounds the city of Lucca has been very
important for our Maestro, and still now, it evocates both his physical
and artistically presence. First the visit of Villa Reale, one of
the most beautiful villa around Lucca that was the summer residence
of Napoleon’s sister and where the famous Niccolò Paganini
used to expose his talents.
After the visit the tour goes on to the mountains. |
 |
The Puccini’s
family has its roots in a small village situated in the surrounding
of Lucca. In the beautiful little hamlet of Celle Puccini immersed
in the mountains we will find Puccini’s ancestors house.
There lived the creator of five generations of musicians: Giacomo
Puccini Senior (born in 1712). The house today is a museum which is
beautifully maintained with rooms full of family furniture, portraits,
letters, the piano on which Puccini composed part of Madama Butterfly,
some musical exercise notebooks from his youth, and the phonograph
that Edison gave to Puccini. |
 |
There
you can find a very typical restaurant, where you can relax
and enjoy good food.
Way back to Lucca to see the concert in San Giovanni basilique.
